Bacon and chocolate?

Tonight we decided to try bacon and chocolate and for good measure we dipped a few Pringles too. I got the idea from Mission Impossible on the food network (had to check out the new guy - I like him although it seems like most of my friends disagree). What does bacon and chocolate taste like? It's good....I think. What happens is that you take a bite and your taste buds are going 'salty and sweet, I like it' but your brain is saying, 'whoa, these two flavors aren't suppose to go together.' I think if I would have grown up with it I would be occasionally craving it and buying the candy bar version but for now I think we might only break it out as a parlor trick when we have visitors. I did like the Pringles (I bought reduced fat since we were dipping it in chocolate; I mean I am suppose to be watching my calorie intake). If any of you get brave let me know what you think. For now, my vote is for deep fried snickers ;-)

Iowa

We just got back from a vacation to Iowa which went wrong in a very good sense. We had planned to stay a few days with Terry's family and then head up for a few days with Craig's family and then go camping in the Ozarks. Of course, Abby got really sick and so we didn't do the camping thing and ended up just staying with Evelyn (Craig's mom) and doing day trips. It was awesome. We got to spend a lot of time with Evelyn who is 93 and can remember all my kids names, had a great time at the children's museum, and could not imagine the 4th of July without seeing the fireworks. She stayed up and told us about making soap with pig fat and telling us about her husband being in a German Prisoner of War camp. She is the most matter of fact person I have ever met and I hope to be just like her someday.
