On Thursday my awesome brother Ryan called and asked if we wanted tickets to the sold out Nickelback concert in The Woodlands. No brainer. Around 5pm we dropped our four kids off at Paul and Tiffany's home so they could mix with their six kids. Tiffany was a little sick (okay, a lot sick) and they both love Nickelback...and they had tried to win tickets but couldn't. They love us. In return we sent them texts and pictures of the concert all the way through so they could see what was going on. Yeah....they really love us.

I have always been a fan of Nickelback but have to admit that I don't know all of their songs. Mostly the ballads and 'softer' stuff. Their performance exceeded all expectations though. The amount of interaction they have with the crowd is insane. They seriously try to make it seem like you are hanging out at a party together instead of sitting at a concert. There was a lot of comedy, a lot of talking to people, and a lot of passing out drinks to the crowd (Sorry, Ben they are not passing out grape juice, they are passing out Grey Goose). Toward the end they started cannonballing T-shirts and drinks (yes, drinks). Ben thought the science behind it was interesting. When the drinks shot up the alcohol at the bottom would balance it out and if you caught it at the right time you would still end up with half a cup. That's what you get for going to a concert with a geologist. We did find out later that the drinks they shoot are nonalcoholic (shhhh, don't tell those people who went home 'wasted') The pyrotechnics were amazing and I grew up with pyrotechnics. The end was like a fireworks grand finale. When all was said and done we had a good time. I got in touch with my high school self and we were 20 minutes late for church the next day.

Ben I hope you had a good time, but I have to admit it is the first concert I haven't worried about who was driving and if Tonia would get home alright. I love Nickelback, I can't believe you played chess.
Someone please have Tonia put her picture of when she was a Tiger trainer before she met Ben on her blog
