Happy, Happy Birthday!!

Dear Grandma Roundy,
Have we ever told you that you are our favorite? We love that you give us candy and presents and that your house is fun. We love your big dogs that we can ride. We love that you don't get mad and laugh when we ride Emo. Sadie loves the candy in the containers and the real fairies in the flowers. We like to play with the fairies. Thank you for the fairy house and for visiting us in Texas sometimes. Mom gets less mad at us when you are here. Thanks for taking us on treasure hunts, letting us cuddle with you, and letting us watch movies. We love your socks, playing castle toys with you, and playing with the puppets you sent. Thanks for letting us stay at your house sometimes and we wish you could visit us more often. Thanks for letting us help you cook and play with the dough. It's fun. Thanks for giving us webkinz. Sadie loves her pink kitty cat the most. Thanks for letting us call you on the phone and talking to us. Thank you for playing with us and making us red riding hood costumes. We love your hats and coming to get you at the airport. We love it when you babysit us.
We hope you have a happy birthday and we love you.
Love,
Eliora, Audrey, Sadie, and Abbey

p.s. We love you more. All the way to heaven to back.

Help in Haiti

At this point if you have not heard about the devastating earthquake in Haiti then you probably don't have a television, don't have the internet, and have not been interacting with anyone for awhile. Sometimes it is hard to figure out how to help when such disasters strike and we are so far away. Here are some links to help.

Hygiene Kits

As I was reading My Litter's dedication to service in the face of this natural disaster I thought about what an amazing opportunity for my own kids to learn a little bit about helping those who they will never meet in a place they will probably never see. I have always believed that charity on a personal and private level can often far outway anything that government can do. For this reason my kids and I are putting together hygiene kits this Friday at my home. Anyone who wants to contribute or help out, please give me a call. We would love to have you over.

Abigail Naomi Davis

At eight o' clock we felt the contractions. Both of us had gotten 3 hours of sleep the night before and had gone on a bike ride that day. The kids had just gone down. We went for a walk. They timed perfectly at 12 minutes apart and stayed there. I figured we were in for a long night. We called my mother-in-law who sweetly came over and fell asleep on our uncomfortable futon. We layed down. Ben fell asleep. I lay on my side, hands and knees, side again, and did some pretty amazing yoga poses while trying to rest and time contractions. The suckers were not going down at all. Still a perfect 12 minutes apart. At one in the morning I stood up to go to the bathroom. (At kid number four I cannot believe I didn't try getting up and walking around before that.) I felt a swoosh sensation and then a lot of pain. Contration....1 minute.....contration....1 minute....contration....30 seconds. I woke up Ben. We ran out of the house and drove to the birth center. We called the midwife on the way. Halfway there I felt the need to push. We beat the midwife to the birth center. I REALLY had to push. Ben was trying to stay calm while telling me to wait just a little longer. The midwife (Katherine Grimes......amazing woman) pulled up. We got in and she had the nurse start to fill the bath while she checked me out. Yep, ready to go. I really wanted to deliver in water however (hurts way less) so I breathed and waited for the bath to go half full. Stepped in, had a baby. At four o'clock, after not naming her, and eating a delicious chocolate cake the nurse (Trish) from the birth center provided we walked in the door of our home. Everyone was still asleep. It felt like we went to Babies R Us and picked out the latest model from aisle twelve. I went to sleep. Ben got to take care of everything else. Poor guy.

Today she is the imp, the mischievious little girl who smiles while taking off her diaper and eating the sweets you told her not to get into. She does not always sleep through the night or take naps when I want her to. She takes about 3 days to get use to anyone else. She also gives you hugs on demand, sings, does everything her sister Sadie does, and is already showing cooking and art talent. She was worth every second. Happy Birthday Abbey. We can't imagine our family without you.

Comments?

This is really early to be blogging about but since my kids know we figured it was only a matter of time before the entire world knew. Only 5 weeks along so it might be better if you forget you saw this and ask how we are doing in 5 months or so.
Due date: September 10th
