Kung Fu and Popper's Penguins

We tried to get our little Longhorn into ballet
But her favorite movie is Kung Fu Panda
She has been asking to quit ballet since the first class started. She is stinkin cute in her uniform!
For book club we read Mr. Popper's Penguins. We were in charge this time. Did you know the book, by the Atwaters, was written in 1938? It is the story of a man who has lived his whole life in one place but always wanted to travel. He writes to an antactic explorer who in return sends him a penguin. Then the adventures begin. Since the book is older than ones we normally read we did a timeline of stuff invented and happening from 1900 to 2011. The kids had to pull the stuff out of a pack and put it where they thought it would go (before or after the book). Some of it surprised them! The one that got me was youtube. It has only been around since 2005. What did we do without it?
We were also in charge of the snack. We dipped double stuffed oreos in chocolate and either made them look like penguins or added a swedish fish
The girls did them all by themselves. I only showed them the pic of what it needed to look like. I think they did pretty good!
