Triathlon Training

Today started the official training for the FitKids Triathlon the two older girls are signed up to do on July 14th. We are using this, our blog, as a place to record our thoughts, training, etc. etc. for future use. :)

Monday, June 18th - Run a mile. Did not wake up early to do it. Have a baseball game to go to tonight. Dad came home for lunch and we walked over to the park to time our mile run. It was HOT. Tip of the Day - run when it's cool outside!!

Times -
Eliora - 9m 13s
Audrey - 10m 16s
Sadie - 7m 2s (she runs a "6 year old mile" as she calls it which means she cuts across the field every time)
Mom - 8m 8s
Dad - 9m 3s

Ran the mile in segments - 1 loop equals a 1/3 of a mile. Divided up in 2 groups. First group ran while second group timed. Group not running at the moment did calisthenics.

Mom's tip - Running a third of a mile after squats hurts!
Dad's note - Dad runs with kids for their motivation. Mom runs ahead.

We will see how well we improve when we run in cooler weather!
