I love to be in the kitchen. I love reading the cookbooks as if they were novels. I love measuring and sifting and making sure the oven is the perfect temperature. I love the smells. I love presenting my family with something I took time to give them. I love the logic of putting an exact amount of components together and knowing the end result will be something better than it's parts.

Perfect dough that has been kneaded, tested, kneaded, tested, kneaded and finally formed into the perfect ball of 80 degree suppleness |
|
Cut a piece off and hold it up for a windowpane test. If it stretches then you are done. If it breaks roll up your sleeves and realize why our grandmothers had perfectly toned arms. |
|
Let rise, punch down, and shape into perfect little knots. Add to the oven with a brush of eggwash for golden bites of heaven. |
|
Add a hot seared and impeccably seasoned roast to a device which will spend the next 12 hours turning it into a mouth watering bit of deliciousness. Add potatoes, carrots, onions, and broth which will then combine to make the world's perfect gravy. |
|
Swirl your own cobbler topping (no bisquick please) complete with cinnamon and brown sugar. |
|
Set topping over bing cherries or blueberries that ooze into divine scrumptiousness. Serve with homemade fresh whipped cream or plain vanilla ice cream. |
|
Then turn around and realize that your older children have given the extra blueberries to the 9 month old. Take a deep breath, put the clothing in vinegar (works like a charm), and enjoy a drink before dinner.

I'd like to know what drink made that seem less stressful :)
In our house, when you need a drink, it means Dr. Pepper (or anything with caffeine!)
I'm so coming to your house for dinner :)
:) I figured...that is also what it means in our house, there is no substitute for Dr. Pepper!
I vote that's what we eat for Sunday "pot luck!!"
Whichever parts you want to make.... and I'll make the other parts.... but ummmm, gaurenteed your parts will taste better than my parts... (that's what he said)
ewwww.
ok....
bye now.
I miss eating with you guys! Looks yummy. I too was wondering what sort of "drink" you were talking about....
Not fair - here I am stuck eating sand worms and sea cucumbers and you post this great meal!
... Yeah, worms and sea cucumbers and you post this :(
... oh wait, I made my own dinner.
I was just thinking how professional your kitchen looked and what great pictures you took...the last picture was so perfect! It's like dressing up to go to the opera, sitting in a $70 dollar seat, rubbing shoulders with the rich and maybe the famous then stand up at intermission, a button pops and your skirt falls to the floor.
